A 100-plus island archipelago with white-sand beaches and hundreds of rare and endangered species is up for auction to the highest bidder.

According to Sotheby's Concierge Auctions, the Widi Reserve near Bali in far east Indonesia — one of the most environmentally vulnerable sites on the planet — will be open for bidding Dec. 8-14 in a "once-in-a-generation" sale. The islands are rich in species, and the ocean surrounding the archipelago is devoid of serious plastic pollution or human intervention.

"Every billionaire can own a private island; but only one can own this exclusive opportunity spread across 100+ islands," said Charlie Smith, Executive Vice President, EMEA, Sotheby's Concierge Auctions, in a prepared statement. "We're offering a fantastic opportunity for any discriminating buyer in the globe to contribute to the conservation and development of one of the world's most pristine locations."

Because Indonesian law prohibits private ownership of its islands, the bidder will not truly possess the islands. Instead, they will invest in PT Leadership Islands Indonesia, a company that controls the development rights to Widi Reserve.

There is no minimum price for the islands, but a $100,000 deposit is required if you want to make an offer, and conservation rules are already in place. Only 25 of the islands can be built, with a total of 500 residences. A new airport is also being planned, which will "link to the reserve in less than an hour."

The Widi Reserve is the same area as Bora Bora and 50 times the size of Tetiaroa, the coral atoll archipelago that is home to the renowned resort The Brando.

If an archipelago is too expensive for you, Sotheby's Realty provides two pages of other private islands for sale. Prices range between $50 million and $300,000.
